An encouraging talk. But, I am not sure I agree with the below But he said the US cannot deter the Chinese threat alone, calling on other nations to be “force multipliers” against Beijing. The US could deter China alone, but I understand the need to encourage other Asian countries to increase also.

@Axtremus said in Somebody let AI do his homework: Unfortunately not everybody cares. People who are willing to believe (or at least not dispute) Trump‘s “many people say …” stuff are unlikely to care about citation and reference accuracy. Even here, where we believe our regulars are more thoughtful, more informed than the general population, not every one thinks references and citations are important. Unfortunately, it is something both sides are guilty of. If it is (generic) your side that does something stupid, it is easy to dismiss. If (generic) you is on the other side, it is a big deal. It is a rare politician who is willing to speak up against their side.

Yes, interesting life. Did some good things, but did some bad things also. I am guess that he believed that most rules did not apply to him.

@LuFins-Dad said in Pride Month starts tomorrow - Which do you dread more?: I’m outraged that my TransAcoustic post is not getting more play. That was brilliant, but probably beyond all of you transphobes… It really was, faggot.

@Mik said in So....: The Lone Ranger was ambushed and captured by an enemy Indian War Party. The Indian Chief proclaims, "So, you are the great Lone Ranger...In honor of the Harvest Festival, YOU will be executed in three days. "Before I kill you, I grant you three requests. What is your FIRST request?' The Lone Ranger responds, "I'd like to speak to my horse." The Chief nods and Silver is brought before the Lone Ranger who whispers in Silver's ear, and the Horse gallops away. Later that evening, Silver returns with a beautiful blonde woman on his back. As the Indian Chief watches, the blonde enters the Lone Ranger's tent and spends the night. The next morning the Indian Chief admits he's impressed. "You have a very fine and loyal horse. But I will still kill you in two days." "What is your SECOND request?" The Lone Ranger again asks to speak to his horse. Silver is brought to him, and he again whispers in the horse's ear. As before, Silver takes off and disappears over the horizon. Later that evening, to the Chief's surprise, Silver again returns, this time with a voluptuous brunette, more attractive than the blonde. She enters the Lone Rangers tent and spends the night. The following morning the Indian Chief is again impressed. "You are indeed a man of many talents, but I will still kill you tomorrow. What is your LAST request?" The Lone Ranger responds, "I'd like to speak to my horse...alone." The Chief is curious, but he agrees, and Silver is brought to the Lone Ranger's tent. Once they're alone, the Lone Ranger grabs Silver by both ears, looks him square in the eye and says, "Listen Very Carefully!!! "FOR...THE...LAST...TIME..." "BRING POSSE" The Lone Ranger and Tonto rode into town after a long and hot ride across the desert. The horses were overheated, so Kemosabe told Tonto to run around the horses to generate a breeze while he went into the tavern to get them all something to drink. The masked lawman was waiting at the bar for two beers and two buckets of water when a guy came into the bar and yelled “Hey! Is that your white horse out there?” The Lone Ranger replied “Sure is, is there a problem?” The guy responded “No, but you left your Injun running”

@Horace said in What are you listening to - Podcast Edition?: Good reddit thread regarding Sam. This guy unsubscribed at about the same time I did, with about the same reasoning. https://www.reddit.com/r/samharris/comments/1kv5unv/why_i_just_canceled_my_subscription/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button I liked this response. It's something I've been thinking about lately. The economy of subscriptions to individual public commentators. Their price is often the same as a subscription to a top-tier commentary magazine or service. For $60 a year you can get a subscription to The Atlantic, which publishes new content everyday, some by Pulitzer Prize winners. Sam asking $150 a year is ridiculous in comparison Patreon tends to be saner, where creators request subscriptions on the order of $1 or $3 per month. But the substack crowd tends to start at $10/month or more. As for Sam, his pursuit of money is too obvious, compared to his professed higher motivations. I still recall how he was charging separately for his Substack writings and for his podcast. When he consolidated everything at a higher price, he attributed that to an oversight. What you can know about Sam is that he is compelled to maximize his revenue, and he is ashamed of admitting that, and will never admit that.

As health supplements go, that one is probably more reasonable than most. At least you know that if it does make a difference, it'll be a positive one.

Hate to break the news to you, I know this is news because I am smart and thought of this before anyone, but society is made up of individuals. Thousands, some even say billions. We're one big bell curve. There will always be outliers...some think the earth is flat, some think there's T3H B4RGE!!!1, some love conspiracy theories... hey they are kind of fun to think about, and if you're in a spot in life where it explains hardship by blaming something else, so be it. Society has always had these faith/blind believers against forces of power. Throw a worldwide epidemic that killed 7 million people (including half a million in the USA in the first year)... that'll get a few more folks talking about "they".
